Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship Application Details 2023:
The Government of Canada initiated the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to enhance Canada’s capacity to attract and retain top-tier doctoral students, establishing the country as a global center of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars exhibit leadership skills and maintain a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies across social sciences and humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health.
Scope:

- A total of up to 500 scholarships are active at any given time.

- $50,000 per year

- 3 years (non-renewable)

Candidates are advised to exclusively seek a nomination from the institution where they intend to pursue their studies. *The term “quota” denotes the maximum number of nominations an institution can submit to the national competition.
Timelines: July – November 2023: Applicants search for a nominating institution, prepare, and submit an application package. Internal Deadline (varies): Deadline for submitting applications to the nominating institution. Contact the nominating institution for a specific date.
November 1, 2023 (20:00 EDT): Deadline for institutions to forward nominations to the Vanier CGS program.
November 2023 – March 2024: Review and evaluation of nominations. Early April 2024: Anticipated notification of results. Nominees will be informed via email when the results are accessible on Research
Net. May 1, 2024, or September 1, 2024, or January 1, 2025: Commencement of payments.
