The registration process for Stellenbosch University (SU) varies depending on your individual circumstances, including whether you’re a new or returning student, your program of study, and your campus location.

- Registration typically commences in January for the upcoming academic year.
- A compulsory initial fee is required to secure your place.

How to Register at Stellenbosch University:
Upon successful application, you will receive an offer of admission along with registration instructions.

- Maties Self-Registration – Stellenbosch University E-Registration: Self-registration can be completed from any computer with internet access via the Stellenbosch University E-Registration Portal.
- Visit the Stellenbosch University E-Registration Portal.
- Log in using your credentials.
- If you have completed the National Senior Certificate or the IEB certificate, you can proceed with self-registration.
- For first-year students, self-registration opens on 15 January until the allocated time slot determined for your faculty’s registration in NARGA or GERGA.
Student cards can be obtained at the Student Centre (Neelsie) in Stellenbosch, during the designated time slot for your faculty’s registration in NARGA or GERGA if you are based at Tygerberg.
